Quinn Boothroyd is a British lawyer married to an American and living in New York City. She has managed to check off most of the boxes on the list of "A Modern Woman's List of Things to Do Before Hitting 30" one of which includes getting pregnant.

Q thought things would be very easy with her pregnancy until she was advised by the doctor that her amniotic fluid was low and in order for the baby to develop properly she must have enough of it. The doctor informed her that the baby seems to be fine but he wanted her to have bed rest for the remainder of her pregnancy. The doctor said she can lie on the sofa or in the bed but he did not want her walking or lifting more than she needed.

Q figured this would be rather simple even though her sister told her she would probably be bored right into a depression within 24 hours. Q soon finds herself totally bored and starts to think about some of the things she hasn't thought about before. One of the things she finds herself involved in is a legal dispute between some of her neighbors and the landlord. She also starts to think about some of the things that have happened to her during her lifetime such as her relationship with her mother and sisters. She really starts to get upset when she thinks about actually being a mother. Her husband is working longer hours to try and move up the ladder within his company and some tension starts to develop between them.

How do things work out for Q?

This book is written in a diary format. The author does an excellent job of making the reader see how one's thoughts can change when a person is confined for a period of time and we really start to do some deep thinking about certain subjects. This is a great read. You will find sections of it hilarious. The author has created some great characters for this novel and hopefully they will be a part of the next book. These are the type of characters that will stay with the reader for a long time. If you are looking for a book that is an entertaining read and one that will give you a few good laughs, this is the one for you.
