The "Notebook" was started by four students in their freshman year at Stuyvesant High School as a way to keep in contact when their conflicting schedules permitted otherwise.
The format of the book is quite interesting. The pages are handwritten and scribbled with notes. There are several photos pasted on the pages. The reader will find many stories about the normal things a high school teenager faces each day and some not so normal happenings.
Some people will love this book, others will not. As someone pointed out, this is what really happens in the life of a teenager - not what one would expect to happen. Be prepared for some vulgar language because this book is known for its "rawness". The girls write it down and tell it like it is. All in all, it is an interesting book and the cover art is very creative. I have to admit, it is different from any other book I have read. Teenagers will love this book. Parents on the other hand will probably disagree with them.
