Garden Spells is a truly wonderful story and I would call it a fairy tale for adults. Claire is a Waverly and in her town of Bascom, North Carolina she is considered strange as have been all the Waverly’s that have come before her. Claire has a catering business and a very special one at that. Her recipes can bring different results depending on what kind of atmosphere or feeling the hostess wants to create.

Claire’s mother left Claire and Sydney to be raised by their grandmother. Sydney tired of the small town and ran away. Her life wasn’t too easy though and when she made her escape from an abusive husband with her daughter Bay she returned to her home town.

This is a story of the relationship between two sisters and the jealousy and resentment sometimes carried over for years in small towns.

It is also a love story as well as a mystery.

This is a good story and one that I think readers of all genres would enjoy.
