Kate
Foley's sister, Colleen, is killed in a car accident. Kate is
left with the responsibility of caring for her sister's young son,
Ben. At first she finds it very difficult because she was
running a horse farm that wasn't making any money. Her mother
helped with Ben while Kate worked on the farm. They told Ben
that his father was dead.
One night, a man knocked on their
door. It was Marty Lockwood, a former boy friend of
Colleen. Marty stated that he came to see how Colleen
was doing. Kate informed him that Colleen was dead.
Marty made a point to tell Kate that Colleen walked out on him - not
the other way around. Marty recognizes Ben as the son of
New York Yankees pitcher Daniel Montero. Marty thought he had
a really good plan to blackmail Montero. Much to Marty's
surprise, Montero was thrilled to hear he had a son. A couple
of years ago, he had the mumps and was told by the doctor that he
would never father a child. He looked at the photo of Ben and
could see himself when he was seven year's old. Once there was
definite proof that Ben was his son, Montero wanted to be a part of
Ben's life.
Daniel visited Kate and Ben. Kate was not
happy with his visit. Daniel wanted to somehow show Kate that
they belonged together. Ben really wanted a father.
Daniel had to show Kate that he was falling in love with her.
Does he win her over?
This is a great romance story. It
has all the elements needed for a romantic novel - a beautiful
woman, a handsome baseball star and a delightful plot. If you
are a fan of romance, this is one that you will truly enjoy!
Joan Wolf is an extremely talented writer.
