BOOK REVIEW

     BLACK - CHRISTOPHER WHITCOMB

Special Agent Jeremy Waller has been selected for the FBI's elite Hostage Rescue Team.  Waller has shown many times that he could handle any kind of job under pressure.  This was especially true when he was on assignment in Puerto Rico and became involved in a hostage situation.

Agent Waller is chosen by his supervisor for a secret assignment.  However, is this assignment so secret that even his agency doesn't seem to know about it?

Jordan Mitchell, CEO of Borders Atlantic, threatens to trade national security for market share by selling his technology to the Saudis. Mitchell is becoming very disliked by Americans because if the terrorists had this type of cellular phone technology, it would be difficult for the United States to accumulate any type of intelligence.

Senator Elizabeth Beechum, chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, states that she will stop Mitchell - no matter what.  She is also one of the top contenders for President.  However, the tables are turned and Senator Beechum is framed for murder.

This is Christopher Whitcomb's first novel.  His previous book, Cold Zero, is a memoir of his fifteen-year tenure in the FBI.

The author does an excellent job of making you feel that you are part of the action.  The novel has many subplots.  Mr. Whitcomb gives you bits and pieces of information - just enough to make you curious.  As time goes on, everything starts to fit together.  This is a complicated, compelling thriller and you really won't figure this one out until the end!
