It has
been several years since Mr. Wallace published any fiction.
Oblivion consists of eight stories - two of which are very
short. Each story is very different. Some of the
topics include stories of a tragic accident that happened to a baby,
a psychopath on a bus and a deranged teacher. In "Oblivion" a
wife complains about her husband's nonexistent snoring and makes him
go to a sleep clinic. He then begins to wonder if he even
knows himself.
This book certainly would not be called
"light reading". Mr. Wallace writes with an extraordinary
amount of intellect that will make you "think deep". Be
prepared for something very different when you read this book.
This author's writing style is like a type of art. Only a
chosen few possess talent of this caliber.
If you are
not familiar with the writing of David Foster Wallace you might also
want to read "Infinite Jest". We look forward to more books by
this author.
