BOOK REVIEW

THE DISAPPARATION OF JAMES - ANNE URSU

This book begins with a family going to the circus.  It is Greta's seventh birthday.  Her mom, dad and five year old brother, James, all go along for the celebration.  James is a very quiet little boy, while Greta is very outgoing.  The family was very surprised when a clown steps on stage and asks for a volunteer for his magic act and James throws his hand in the air.  The clown chose James to help him.  The two of them go through a routine on stage and everyone is laughing.  The little boy's parents are so proud of James.  The magic act was amazing - James disappeared right before everyone's eyes.  However, there was a big problem - James really did disappear!

The police investigation was getting nowhere, the father was obsessed with the clown and the mother was becoming lost in her dreams.  Greta had to find out what really happened to James.

This is a very interesting book.  The mother becomes so involved in her dreams that you almost felt like you were going through the dreams along with her.   The author does an excellent job of mixing reality with fantasy.  She does a wonderful job of describing the fantasy of the mother's thoughts.  Anne Ursu does an excellent job of describing the characters and what was going through their minds at the time of a little boy's disappearance.    You will enjoy reading this book.
