Blair Clemmons is a single mother who is raising her daughter by herself.  Blair works as a chef.  Blair learns that she has melonoma and that she is terminal.  Her main concern is for her teenage daughter,Amanda, who is the most important thing in Blair's life.

Luke Bellington has spent a great deal of time in his cabin in the mountains.  He has been there since his wife left him.  He keeps trying to contact his wife's sister to find out where his wife is but she won't tell him anything.

Luke's old school is planning a reunion and he was talked into helping find other classmates.  One person he really wants to find is Blair.  Luke wrote a screenplay about the gang rape of Blair which won him an Oscar.  He was delighted to discover that Blair was living close by. 

When Blair and Luke meet again after all these years, there was an immediate attraction.  Blair informed Luke that she was dying. 

What happens when Luke's wife returns with a secret?  Luke has grown close to Amanda and Blair.  What choice does he make between these two and his wife? 

As the book states, what happens when you meet the right guy at the wrong time?  Ellen Sussman has done an excellent job creating her characters.  Fans will love the three main characters in this book.  You will also love the dog, Sweetpea.  The one that will really stay with you is her landlord, Casey.  You can almost create a picture of him in your mind.  This is an excellent drama - one in which all of the main characters are faced with tough decisions.  The story is sad but at times it will make you laugh.  This is Ellen Sussman's first novel and she has done a wonderful job of showing how something as sad as this can turn into a beautiful story.
