Dr.
Small begins this book with some basic information about memory such
as what is memory and how it changes with age. He includes a
chart questionnaire where we can rate our current memory.
Dr. Small points out several important facts in
memorization: We should "LOOK" - actively observe what you
want to learn. He gives an excellent example of someone
driving you to a location. As a passenger, we don't pay much
attention to street signs, etc. He states that we should
mentally stay in the driver's seat.
Another point he
calls "SNAP" - Create a mental snapshot of memories. He
suggests that when you look at what your mate wore to work this
morning - red blouse, black slacks, etc. you are already developing
this mental snapshot of what you want to remember.
The
third point is "CONNECT" - Link your mental snapshots
together.
Throughout the book, Dr. Small lists several types
of exercises for you to do consistent with each section he writes
about.
The cover of the book states that The
Memory Bible is "an innovative strategy for keeping your brain
young". It will help you remember names and faces, memorize
numbers, and improve your memory.
Dr. Small has
written a detained-oriented book. It is easy to
understand. This book will help people find ways to improve
their memory. The exercises are an excellent way to
begin. Do yourself a favor and read this book. You will
be glad you did!
