BOOK REVIEW

        INDELIBLE - KARIN SLAUGHTER

The book begins with Sara stopping off at the Grant County Police Station to have a talk with Jeffrey. Jeffrey is called to the front office as he has a visitor. Sara immediately senses danger and before anyone can take a deep breath a violent hostage situation is under way. To make the situation even more dangerous a group of school children are on a tour of the police station. One police officer coming thru the front door to report for duty is killed immediately. Other officers are wounded or held hostage inside while their fellow workers are desperately trying to figure a way to get inside and save the children and the other people held by the two gunmen.

Sara's mind goes back in time to when she started dating Jeffrey and took a trip with him to Florida but wound up stopping off at Sylacauga, Jeffrey Tolliver's hometown. There she met his two best friends from school Possum and Robert and learned more about Jeffrey than she ever wanted to know. The one night stay in Sylacauga turned into several nights due to a killing
involving Jeffrey's good friend Robert. Then Sara and Jeffrey discovered a body in a cave and this discovery lead to uncovering more old secrets.

The plot shifts back and forth between the present time and the hostage situation in the police station and the time past in Sara's memory but somehow the author brings it all together to a conclusion that is unexpected.

I did not want to put this book down and can't wait for the next Grant County novel.
