Frank
and Joy Mobley have high hopes for their daughters, Grace, Mary
Nell, and Eva. They want them to have a good marriage and a
fine profession. The parents believe their daughters have just
as much right for these things as others in the North.
Much
to their disappointment, their daughters began to show signs of
"seeing the unseen". This was a gift inherited from their
grandmother, a former slave. They tried their best to
discourage this "gift" but this is not something you can easily give
back. To the parents, this "gift" meant that the slave stigma
has stayed with them.
Even after their parents try to
discourage this "gift", the girls find themselves called on for
advice and have a small following.
What do the girls see
about their own future? What does Mary Nell see regarding her
sister, Eva?
This is an interesting and mesmerizing
story of the Mobley family. Phyllis Alesia Perry is an
award-winning newspaper editor and author of the novel
"Stigmata". She has done an excellent job of building her
characters and they will stay with you for a long time. This
is an excellent book to read.
