The
author, Joyce Meyer, wrote this book because she "has a passion to
help people enjoy their lives." She admits that she wasted
many years not enjoying her life. She said she was raised in
an atmosphere that made her feel guilty. As a result, she
became a workaholic. Do you feel this way?
Joyce
Meyer uses examples of scripture to show us how to find joy and keep
it. As Joyce points out, all through the Bible we are
encouraged to be joyful. One example is in Proverbs 17:22 it
states "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine". Joyce
states that "if people had more joy, they would be sick much less
often."
Joyce continues in detail about what she
believes are the seven things that steal your joy and she gives you
guidance on how to replace them with God's truths and
love.
One point she gives us to ponder is "Remember that God
made you exactly the way He wants you to be. Find out how to
recognize the beautiful life God has planned especially for
you." When you think about it, this makes perfect
sense!
This is truly an interesting book. The author
has done an excellent job of researching the Bible to point out
where the word "joy" is listed so many times. At the end of
the book, she has all the scriptures on joy listed for you to
read. This book is recommended for everyone and especially for
those who feel they don't have the time in life to enjoy
things. We should all learn a few things about enjoying life
from Joyce Meyer!
