This
book is written by Joan Kohn, host, writer and associate producer of
HGTV's show, Kitchen Design.
The book is divided into two
sections - The first is called "Design Essentials" - which tells you
the basics of what you really need to design your dream
kitchen. It includes chapters on the elements of kitchen
design, assessing your existing kitchen, budgeting, collecting
ideas, your style and your design team.
The second section is
called "The Five Building Blocks of Kitchen Design". Chapters
included in this section are function, raw space, floor plan, style
and it's my kitchen.
The beginning of the book has a section
called "Kitchen Dreams May Take Many Forms". This section
gives details on different views people have when designing a
kitchen. Some may dream of function and others might dream of
color.
This is an excellent book for anyone even
thinking about designing or remodeling his or her kitchen. The
pictures are beautifully illustrated. Joan's help tips and
ideas will be of extraordinary help to someone who wants to design
their kitchen. Tips such as "Ideas to Help You Stay on Budget"
and "It's Best to Begin by Considering Broad Functional Issues Such
As These" (just a couple of many tips listed) will be a tremendous
help to anyone taking on this task. If you are planning to
take on this challenge, you need this book!
