This
book is a collection of true stories to remind teens that God is
involved in their lives.
One story in the book "Save a
Place for Me" is about Julie and her brother, Jared, who had cystic
fibrosis. Her parents lived a life separate from faith and
with their son's illness, they seemed to think it confirmed their
non-belief because God was not helping Jared.
Jared became
very sick and had to be placed in the hospital. The doctors
did not think he would live. Julie's parents went to the
cafeteria but Julie remained in the room with Jared. While her
parents were at the cafeteria, Julie kept praying to God for Jared
to live. Julie heard someone enter the room. It was a
man dressed in janitorial clothing with a mop and bucket of
water. There was something about him - his smile was gentle
and his voice soft. He said he had something to tell her - a
message from God. He told Julie her brother was going to
live. As Julie had many other questions flash through her
mind, she ran out in the hallway to find the janitor. He was
not in sight. She checked at the nurses' station to find the
man. They said it could not be one of the janitors because
they all left three hours ago!
The doctor then came to tell
Julie that a miracle had happened. Ten minutes ago it looked
like Jared was not going to make it and now his lungs were much
better. Was this an angel who visited Julie?
There are
several more true stories such as this one in the book. Just
about everyone believes in miracles and after reading this book it
confirms many of our beliefs. This book is a great inspiration
to those of us who are believers! The book is very well
written and shows that prayers are answered. It is wonderful
that Karen Kingsbury has compiled these stories for all of us to
enjoy. Everyone of all ages will enjoy this
book!
