      STONE KISS -  FAYE KELLERMAN

Peter Decker is an L.A. police lieutenant.  He gets a call from his half brother, Rabbi Levine informing him that the Rabbi's brother-in-law was found murdered in a run-down Manhattan hotel room.  To top it off, the dead man's fifteen-year-old niece had disappeared.  Was she a witness to the murder?  Did she hold a clue to the murder?

Peter Decker and his wife, Rina, boarded a plane to go to New York and help the relative.  Peter is not really welcome by the New York Police Department.  He really expected this - he knew the police department wouldn't appreciate a visiting policeman getting involved. To make matters worse, he was not welcome by the missing girl's parents either.   Peter finds the girl in the apartment of a mob-connected criminal.  As time goes on, Peter begins to wonder if Ephraim was involved in something disreputable.

This is an intriguing, complex mystery due to the fact that there are many subplots - however, it is a story that draws the reader in and keeps you interested throughout the book.  Faye Kellerman does a terrific job with the characters.  If you are a fan of the Peter Decker/Rina series, you will thoroughly enjoy this book.  If this is the first book you have read in this series, it will make you want to read several more.
