This
is the story of three women who have something in common. They
were all involved, in different ways, with Steven Gage, a psychopath
who murdered more than a hundred women.
One was Steven Gage's
attorney who took plenty of heat for defending him. Another
was a crime writer who wrote a bestseller about Gage. The
third was Steven's ex-girlfriend who tried to move on and start a
new life.
The jury determined the punishment for Gage
would be death. When Gage heard this he went into a
rampage. He stated that he would not accept the verdict
because he was innocent. He also made the chilling statement
"those responsible for this will pay."
On the fifth
anniversary of Gage's execution, each of the three women received a
note. Each note contained the same message - "Happy
Anniversary - I haven't forgot- ten you".
Who was
responsible for trying to make this terror continue?
Amy
Gutman really has what it takes to write a thriller. The book
has a great plot which keeps your interest glued to the pages.
The author also does an excellent job with character
portrayals. She makes them very picturesque to the point where
they seem real. Even though Gage is executed, you feel he is
present throughout the book. If you enjoy a good thriller,
this is a must read book!
