Alden Warren's husband has disappeared.  The police don't think much of it other than to believe he just "ran off" and left her.  Two years has gone by since Alden's husband disappeared.  Alden tried many different things to take her mind off her husband - having an affair with a married man and trying to adopt a baby. 

Someone new appears in Alden's future.  His name is Lux Davis.  He is a handsome landscape worker.   Lux and Alden find immediate attraction to each other.  Lux manages to have some problems of his own.  It also seems that Lux has some secrets in his past.  Is he connected to the disappearance of Alden's husband? 

Maria Flook has written a compelling novel with unforgettable characters.  The author does an excellent job of showing us her descriptive writing throughout the book.   This novel contains many elements that make a book interesting - love, mystery and suspense.  This is one I would recommend.
