BOOK REVIEW

SONS OF THE CITY - SCOTT FLANDER

This story takes place in Philadelphia.  The police commissioner's son, Steve Ryder, has been killed in a crack house and, as a result, racial tensions are very much on edge.

The big question now is was the mob involved in this murder?  Sgt. Eddie North believes the mob was involved and he is ready to launch his own war on organized crime.  North receives help from Michelle Ryder, sister of the slain police officer.  She is willing to go undercover to try and involve Mickey Bravelli, a local mobster, into a romantic relationship hoping that he will tell her what happened to Steve.

During North's investigation, he must deal with rumors regarding Steve and his possible links with the mob and the city's ties to the mob, which are found in the top ranks of the police department.

What will Eddie North discover?  What will happen to Michelle Ryder?

This is an excellent police novel with an exciting plot.  Scott Flander's writing style makes you feel like you are right there on the streets of Philadelphia.  He does a great job with the characters and makes them seem real.  The book is very compelling and a real page-turner.  This is Scott's first novel and we are definitely looking forward to his new book "Four to Midnight".
