      MARVIN MONSTER'S BIG DATE -
           TABATHA JEAN D'AGATA

Marvin Monster planned a big date with Reba Banshee.  He told his mother that Reba was a "new, cool raging monster".  Marvin's mother reminded him that he was supposed to walk to school with Gretchen Goblin and the Werewolf twins.  She told Marvin "monsters who can't keep their word grow toad-warts on their palms."  Marvin gulped his pond water and chomped on a piece of moldy toast.  Marvin was on his way to meet Reba.  He did not expect what happened next!  What lessons did Marvin learn?

It takes a great deal of creativity to be able to write a book for children and Tabatha Jean D'Agata proves that she has this talent.  The book is loaded with a type of terminology that will appeal to a child and at the same time keep his/her interest.  For example, Tabatha uses words like snailwich and Slug Slime.   Her descriptions of the items used by Marvin Monster will show you the enormous amount of imagination one needs to be able to write a book for children.  The author has done an excellent job of creating the characters for this book and Bonnie Everett-Hawkes has done an outstanding job with the illustrations.  The K-3 reader will find this book fun.  I, as an adult, also enjoyed reading the story of Marvin Monster.
