     HOT PLASTIC - PETER CRAIG

Kevin's dad, Jerry, made a living being a crook.  Kevin, who was in his teens, was about to learn this trade from his father.  Kevin and his dad traveled across country staying in run-down motels.  Jerry continued with his business of being a con man by using fake credit cards or anything else he could get away with.

Kevin got sick.  Jerry could not take the time to care for Kevin so he hired Colette, not much older than Kevin, to care for him while he continued doing what he did best.  Colette, who is a runaway teen, decides to join Kevin and Jerry in their escapades.

Jerry and Colette become romantically involved.  However, Kevin is also in love with Colette.

Jerry is arrested and serves time.  Meanwhile, Colette is using Kevin as a willing participant in con schemes.  She also teaches Kevin the art of shoplifting.

Where does this all lead for Kevin and Colette?

Jerry is released on parole and after some time the three once again reunite to commit the one big con job - one that will make them rich for the rest of their lives.

This book is an excellent read.  Peter Craig has created characters that are smooth and clever.  The author also does a great job of making you laugh at the characters and at the same time have a little sympathy for them.  The book is suspenseful and a real page-turner.  This is one that I recommend you add to your reading list.
