Lela
and her boyfriend, Tommy, were out riding in his pickup truck.
Lela noticed something ahead. She told Tommy to turn the
headlights on. She got out of the pickup and could now see the
object. It wasn't an animal. It was a hand rising out of
the dirt. Tommy wanted to get out of there. He told Lela
she didn't see anything. He told her it wasn't her
business. Lela soon realized that Tommy knew who this person
was and that he was probably involved in the murder.
Father O'Malley, pastor of St. Francis Mission, received a
call to come to where the body was found. Father O'Malley knew
the family of Lela Running Bull. He knew the killer had to be
found as quickly as possible because the victim's widow was out for
revenge. The only one that could help was the fifteen-year-old
girl, Lela, who was petrified.
Father O'Malley has a
friend, Vicky Holden, who has just been offered a job working in the
Great Plains Casino. Her job would be to make sure the casino
was being run properly.
Father O'Malley and Vicky work
together to try and sort things out. Vicky soon finds that
there are some things going on in the casino that aren't quite up to
par. As she was trying to get the evidence she needed she was
almost killed.
Does Father O'Malley get there in time
to save Vicky? Do they find the killer?
This is an
excellent whodunnit mystery. It keeps you in suspense and on
the edge of your seat. Margaret Coel does an excellent job of
keeping the story smooth and fast paced. There is not a dull
moment in this book. This is a book you will want to add to
your collection!
