BOOK REVIEW

          JUNG - DEIRDRE BAIR

Deirdre Bair wrote this biography of Carl Jung, known as the founder of analytical psychology.

Deirdre Bair started her research for this book in Zurich in 1995 at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology.  Jung's archives are on file there and his heirs retain strict control of them.  The author points out that no document can be read by a scholar unless a member of the family has read it first.  Jung's heirs granted the author permission to do the research and agreed not to influence the content of the book or read it before publication.

Deirdre Bair writes an extensive biography of Carl Jung.  His life is portrayed from the time he was a young boy up through the time he became elderly.  The book is very detailed and doesn't leave the reader guessing about anything they wanted to know about Carl Jung.

It is obvious the author spent an enormous amount of time doing research for the book. She had to live in Zurich for a period of time to be able to complete this task.  Deirdre Bair has done other works of writing about some of our most influential figures in the twentieth century but this book has to be one of her best.  The biography is unforgettable!
