I'm an avid baseball and hockey fan and enjoy attending live theater productions as well as St. Louis Symphony concerts. I enjoy travelling and do so at every opportunity.

Sherry Merryman

I do research for two authors and have been an avid reader for over 60 years. I was an editorial assistant to the Editor-in-Chief of a medical journal, American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, for 8 years. I majored in English. Although home is California, I've traveled to and lived in Florida, Ft. Worth, Texas, New York, and Scotland. I enjoy reading all types of books, especially new authors. RJ McGill

High school graduate with strong emphasis in Business, Community Relations and Public Speaking. Working for a local Bank I was quickly promoted to supervision and ultimately to the branch management position. Throughout this time I continued my education through a variety of night classes offered by the bank. After-which I studied independently through adult education, taking classes in real estate management, real estate transactions and law, ultimately acquiring my Real Estate license. I received multiple designations and was repeatedly recognized for exemplary performance.

I volunteer at the nursing home and encourage others to "adopt a grandparent." I am a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and work with our local organization to provide support and comfort for US Veterans. I also speak publicly on domestic violence, alcoholism, peer pressures and suicide.

Books have always been an integral part of my life and I want to share my love of reading with others. Forced to retire at such a young age, due to health concerns, the days would be far too long without books to melt the hours away. I live in Tennessee with my husband, daughter and our pets.

I sleep little because there is always something I want to do or a new book I want to read. Most of my family and friends will refer to me when seeking out a good movie or book as I have usually either read it or watched it myself and will give them my opinion of it or I have at least read other's opinions/reviews of it.

Lillian Porter

Kristen Leong

I'm thriteen going on fourteen with a bit of spare time on my hands. I love to read and am an honors student attending Garnet Valley Middle School. I recently signed up for HarperTeen on my friend's recommendation. There, they have a FirstLook program that lets you review books in advance. They also let members review books that have already come out. I seldom express my opinion because there aren't many people who are willing to listen to me. Reviewing books allows me to express my opinions concerning the things that help to keep me sane-books!

I am a twenty-nine year old female. I have been an avid book reader my whole life. I'll pretty much read anything with pages, however I prefer the subjects listed above. I'm an avid horse person, enjoy the outdoors period, and love to kick back with a book nearly anytime day or night. I have read five or six hundred page books in one day if captivated. I'll stay up far to late to finish a book, but never regret it unless the ending leaves me unsatisfied.

Teri Davis

I am a content empty-nester who recently moved and "renested" so that I could be closer to my career which is being a long-time elementary school teacher and church-organist.

My husband and myself enjoy a quiet life and like having a wooded yard while still being close to a community.

My greatest successes have been raising two successful sons and influencing many students throughout my teaching years.

The BookWorm

Hi everyone! I am just another bookworm (though this bookworm's name is TheBookworm) who dwells and pretty much wallows in the written words adorning every book on my shelf (okay, well shelves). There is nothing I enjoy more than opening a new hardcover book and hearing the crisp crack that enables me to fling... fine, more like gentle carrasse the cover and slowly pull the cover away from the beautiful pure white paper within that is a new world waiting for me to be transported in. I know, creepy, but any true bookworm gets a giddy feeling when they walk into a Barnes and Noble and can't help but breath in deeply the "new book smell". I love books (can you tell) and hope to someday be a librarian.

I review books for several YA programs and I maintain a book blog, Au Courant, where you can find my reviews (I have been reviewing books for about 4 months now.)

If you would like to check out some of my reviews, I have easy to use links in my blog's sidebar.

To check out my blog, Au Courant, and some of my past reviews click here.

Mary Z

I am a 59 year-old woman who can never remember a time when I was not surrounded by books. My favorites are histories, mysteries, and, biographies but I read everything! I live with a cat and dog who love to curl up with me and read over my shoulder while my bird chirps quietly in the background.

My degree was in biology with a minor in economics and I'm now trying to learn Spanish by translating a small book of critiques of poets Neruda, Vallejo, and Lorca. It is going slowly!

Judith M. Moderson

Julie is 50 something and lives in Wisconsin. I am mom to 4 children and grandma to 3 wonderful grandchildren. I have a wonderful husband of 31 years who understands my passion to reading and tolerates the light being on while he tries to sleep. I read into the wee hours of the morning. I will read almost any book and share with my good friends.

Carol Thomas

Born in 1949, I spent the most of the first half of my life in school. Believing that I wanted to be an English teacher, I received my B.A. (English and Spanish) in 1971, my M.A. (also English) in 1972, and then worked on my doctorate for another two years. Three years of experience teaching Freshman Composition during this this time convinced me that teaching was not, after all, the career I wanted.

I obtained another Master's in Library Science and then worked for the next 25 years as an academic librarian. I have since retired; but, unable to be too far away from books, I now find myself volunteering at a bookstore here in Lexington, Kentucky that is run by the Friends of the Lexington Public Library.

Diane Pollock

I have been an avid reader my whole life....so many books, such little time!

A jack of many trades, I've done a little bit of everything, from working as a staffer on a Presidential campaign to dealing in antique silver.

I live with my partner of seven years and we have cats on the porch and a box turtle in the summer (in the winter, lucky turtle gets to sleep!)

I hope you enjoy my reviews...

Russell Ilg

I am a book collector with over 3000 signed 1st and limiteds in my collection. I have written reviews for a number of authors i.e. stephen white, Jon Land, John Lescroart, Blake Crouch and many others and I enjoy attending mystery conventions each year. Books are my passion. I usually read 3-4 a week. I love to write reviews and am always honest and tell it like it is hoping to help someone to buy or in some cases not buy a book though that is very rare.

Susan Malone

I am a wife and mom who has lived in Alabama my entire life. I have been an avid reader for as long as I can remember. My dad taught me the love of reading from a very young age. Going to the library with him was always a treat. I read mostly mysteries, thrillers, and suspense, but will pick up other things from time to time as there are plenty of other good things out there to read. I am married to somebody who is a reader, and my daughter is a reader as well. Though we all read different types of books, I am most happy when everybody is sitting down and reading their favorite books. My dad still reads books voraciously and though my mom isn't a big reader, she still will settle down to a book when the fancy strikes. It's nice to be in a family of readers.

Kelly Hager

Kelly started reading when she was three and has not yet stopped. On the rare occasions when she's not curled up on the couch with a book, she's probably working, watching a movie or spending time with her six-year-old dog, Sam.

Her favorite authors are Stephen King, Jodi Picoult, Laura Lippman, Sara Paretsky, Marcus Sakey, Michael Connelly, Harlan Coben, Elizabeth Berg, Sarah Dessen and far too many others to list. She reads general fiction, mysteries, suspense, horror and young adult novels.

Carolyn LeComte

Throughout her years as an artist in a medical school teaching facility, and her career working in the Technical Publications Department of a major defense contractor, Carolyn LeComte has always nurtured her drive for creative expression. With a BA in Art and minor in English, and a multitude of creative writing courses and workshops guiding her along the way, she set out on the wonderful journey to find her voice and tell stories that entertain.

She found that voice, that muse, in the romance genre – romantic suspense, and historic western romance –adventurous, dramatic journeys that whisk you away to other places, and sometimes, other eras . They’ll take you over rutted roads and through dark canyons, you’ll see the light or meet a devil. You’ll visit heartbreak and hope, tenderness and passion. The ride will not be smooth, but it will be more than worth the trouble. You may even be disappointed to reach your destination . . . the end of the story. But perhaps it's only the beginning . . .

When she’s not writing, Carolyn enjoys reading and also reviewing novels by new and not-so-new authors. Delving into others’ work affords her a new perspective on her own as well. She does editing on request and has just taken a line editor’s position with an ebook publisher. Her two novels, Dark Paradise and Trinity James will be out in paper later this year. Dark Paradise is currently available as an ebook.

Jud Hanson

I was born in Raleigh, NC in 1970 and developed a love of reading at a very early age. I was lucky enough to be read to by my parents and grandparents almost on a daily se basis. I remember losing myself in a book on many a rainy and/or cold weekend as a kid (these were the days before the Internet and home video game systems). Throughout my life I have never been far from a book and have always carried one with me nearly everywhere I go, whether it is work, school, etc. I remember cutting my teeth on the classic authors such as C.S. Forester (Horatio Hornblower novels). As I got older, my interests began leaning toward authors such as Robert Ludlum, Stephen King and and Dean Koontz. In the years since college I have tended to steer away from the more graphic novels and prefer a healthy dose of suspense rather than a gory description of a murder scene. Currently, I have a wide range of reading interests, from "cozy" mystery authors such as Nevada Barr, legal thriller authors like Robert Tanenbaum, classic suspense filled novels by authors such as John Sanford and Faye Kellerman to action-adventure authors like Clive Cussler and Jack DuBrul.

Jane Squires

I am 59 years old with 2 grown daughters who aren't at home anymore. I teach children. I review books already on The Celebrity Cafe, Amazon, Christianbook, etc. and like to post reviews everywhere I can. I like to review books and then use them for gifts and share them with others. I the reviews will help and encourage the author, etc. I have taught children for 41 years. I have been married 30 years to one and only one man. I love to sew, do crafts, and cook. I love trying new recipes and collecting cookbooks.

Chris Phillips

I am a veteran editor for friends and family as well as most of my employment positions. I make books out of my friends' writing as well as help them to smooth out what they say, how they say it and hopefully get the best expressions. I have been doing this for 20+ years. I often find myself reading a book and correcting problems I see even after the works have been professional published from big name publishers. I enjoy writing to the authors of books when possible and discussing problems I've seen in the reading of their work. But then there is always the chance for great intelligent conversation whenever creative minds get together. I follow the guidelines given to me but do most of this just because I know what is wrong or should be corrected.

Kathleen Josephson

Retired - 76 years old - Mother of five, grandmother of fourteen, and one great grandchild. Have been an avid reader for about seventy years.

Michelle St. James

I am a former attorney and current freelance writer and editor living just south of Boston, Massachusetts. I can't remember a time my shelves weren't stuffed with books and I am usually reading three at once. My reading tastes range from mysteries to history and one of my greatest joys is finding a wonderful author I had previously never read and filling my shelves with his or her works. I also love spending time reading to children as a volunteer because nothing opens up a kid's mind and world like a book. While most of my editing is in the academic sphere, I love reviewing all sorts of media. In addition to my book reviews here, you can also find my reviews of movies, CDs, and DVDs by clicking on this link.

Mary Glass-Royce

I am a 59 year old woman. I love books and read many different types, though my favorites are mystery and books involving quilting. I have written for an on-line movie review of family type films. Have also written neighborhood news columns for 2 papers. In the past before I retired and was working in the insurance business, I was writing articles for an insurance text journal. Plus I do write short stories which have been on the web and in print. My only true qualification is my love of words & my imagination.
