Havana Harvest by Robert Landori
Reviewed by Julie Moderson
Robert Landori was a senior public accountant, mergers and acquisitions specialist and trustee in bankruptcy in the Cayman Islands. He knows firsthand about con men and international financiers. He has dealt with several countries intelligence communities. He also developed a highly charged and double-edged relationship with Castro’s Cuba and was held in solitary confinement for over two months on false accusations of espionage. He now is a security consultant and lecturer on money laundering and terrorism and a writer of international intrigue and espionage thrillers.
Havana Harvest is based on true events that took place in the late 1980s. Of course Landori enhanced the story to make it more exciting. The book gets to you on the first few pages and you don’t want to put it down until you are done with the book. I love when an author puts a list of characters in the front of the book so if you are unsure who is who you can check the list.
General Patricio Casas is in Cuba and is part of the revolution and has fought for many years. Robert Lonsdale is a CIA operative and is trying to determine why a Captain in Fidel’s army, Francisco Fernandez Ochoa, is seeking protection in the United States from a drug cartel and the Cuban police. Londori develops his characters so well you feel that you know them.
There are double crossed maneuvers and spies as well as murders, a touch of romance and people being detained illegally in this wonderful book that will keep you on edge until the very end. This is a must read for everyone. I can’t wait to see what Landori write next.
