The Go Between: A Novel of the Kennedy Years by Frederick TurnerThis book was written so well that it made you feel like you were living back in the “Kennedy Years.”

It tells how money can buy an election and how Joe Kennedy and Sam Giancana (momo) worked together behind the scenes to get John F. Kennedy elected as President

A very interesting lady, Judith Campbell, was in the middle of it all. She was a lover of a gangster, Sam Giancana (“momo”), an entertainer, Frank Sinatra, and a Senator, John F. Kennedy, who became the President. He did not realize the true danger in the role she played. After all, she was with several men with high power who told her things, and she overheard things, and told some of it to her friends. She was naive and did not know how much danger or trouble she could have been in. The writer tells of Judith’s diary papers, and the ups and downs she had, the affairs that certain political and famous people had. I would have loved to been the one to find these treasures of writing, for it showed the strength that the Kennedy family had.

Judith, being a lover to “momo” and Frank Sinatra, was used by them to get power from John F. Kennedy. They did not even blink twice. She seriously did not know the games she was involved in. Men blinded her. There are several entries from her diary in this book; in one of the entries she took a tour of the White House knowing that is where John F. Kennedy and his wife lived, meanwhile having the affair with him. As I said she was blinded by the power!

The diary entries that Campbell wrote and the information that she knew were unbelievable. The FBI, knowing that she was involved with these people, followed her every step, putting pressure on her life. You really need to read this book. I did not want to put it down once I started reading it!

I personally feel that the writing was excellent. It is scary to think how one can “buy” a presidential seat, or basically anything they want. If you have enough power and money, you are able to play these games. I had a higher interest in this book, because of my love for the Kennedy family and Frank Sinatra. So, if you like to read about the past and the ins and outs of Hollywood and politicians, how they use one another and come together in life, you will not want to miss this book.
